ABOUT THE STAFF......
Kindergarten Class 303 is led by Teacher Yanelle Gonzalez who received her Bachelor's Degrees in Education and Psychology from Rutgers University. Ms. Gonzalez is certified to teach Kindergarten through Grade Five. She plans to pursue her Master's in Literacy. Ms. Gonzalez did her student teaching at the Academy and began with us in the Extended School Day Program. She joined the staff of Robert Treat Academy as a full-time teacher in 2007. Ms. Gonzalez's prior experience included serving as an assistant teacher at the Newark Museum and as a camp counselor at the Newark YMCA. Her special interests include: teaching, learning, music, movies and reading, cooking and baking.

Marilyn Hernandez Lee, Teacher Assistant in 303, joined the Robert Treat staff in 2004 as a Paraprofessional with Highly Qualified status through the Praxis exam. She received her education at Barringer High School and Essex County College. Ms. Lee was in law enforcement before switching professions. She worked for the Newark Police Department for 16 years as a School Crossing Guard and as a 911 Operator/Dispatcher for the West Orange Police Department. She is currently working on her B.A. in Criminal Justice at the University of Phoenix.
