Robert Treat Academy Charter School is governed by a Board Trustees. This Board of Trustees has the same legal responsibility and authority as a Board of Education does in a school district. District Public Schools are governed by elected or appointed Board Members. Robert Treat's Trustee Board consists of nine members who each serve three year terms of office. Three of the Trustees are parents of Academy students. The remaining six members come from the local community.
Current Board of Trustee members come from the corporate world and from local and state government. They serve as volunteers and give generously of their time.

Board Members are charged with the direction of the district, and it's solvency. Making personnel, financial, curricular and other major decisions, they meet monthly throughout the year.

At its annual Reorganization Meeting, the Board of Trustees appoints people to the following positions critical to its work:

- Dr. James M. Caulfield, Educational Consultant
- Nicholas Grieco, Board Attorney
- Thomas W. Maresca, Treasurer of School Monies
- Sung H. Yi, School Business Administrator
