ABOUT THE STAFF......
Second Grade Teacher Mrs. Jillian Zarfino is the lead teacher in Room 304. She joined the staff in 2007. Ms. Zarfino holds certificates in Elementary Education, English and Preschool through Grade 3. She earned her Bachelor's Degree at Felician College in 2006. Before coming to the Academy, she served as a teacher assistant at Oakview School in Bloomfield. Ms. Zarfino enjoys traveling and meeting new people from different cultures. She also likes to read, shop and spend time with her family, her friends and her dog!
Second Grade Teacher, Ms. Jennifer Yirce graduated from Felician College and received her Bachelors in Elementary Education with a Science Endorsement. Ms. Yirce shows great enthusiasm both inside and outside the classroom.

Ms. Maria Matute graduated from Essex County College in June 2009 with an Associate’s Degree in Education. Since January 2010, she has been employed at Robert Treat Academy North as an office assistant. As of August of this year, Ms. Matute has been assigned to room 304 as a Teaching Assistant with Ms. Yirce. Ms. Matute has many interests but prefers to work in areas where she can help other people. From 2004-2009, while studying for her degree, she served as a parent volunteer at First Avenue School, helping in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. For the past 2 years she has been working on the weekends as a Spanish tutor for a small group of children from Sri Lanka.
